Recent HS Graduate and don’t know which career path to take? HELP!!!?
I am almost 18 years old and I recently graduated from High School. I didn’t apply to any colleges because mainly I couldn’t afford to choose a path that I didn’t have my heart in 10%. Overall, I can’t afford my own graduation party, senior stuff, car, license, college, and my own apartment. Parents don’t help one bit. Did I mentioned my learners is expiring and I have done no driving experiencing at all. Besides much more personal problems, I can’t decide I career path. I love to sing, paint, bake and design cakes, and interior design. I really don’t know which path to go down. I would say my top two is baking and designing cakes and singing. With baking and designing cakes, I want to know that people will buy my cakes and that I won’t be wasting my time, especially if I start my own business with this path. With singing, I really don’t know If I can really truly sing, even though I’ve been taking chorus in school all of my life. I ask some people but then they say they only heard me play aroun
First of all, no one really knows what they want to do when they first step into college.
Sure, some kids have some idea based on the classes they took in high school, but there are many others that change majors, transfer colleges, etc.
Graduation party, senior stuff, car, etc. are all superfluous and not necessary.
Right now, money-wise, you should focus mainly on paying for your tuition.
Personally, baking is a more stable choice than singing. It’s not easy to become famous. Sign up at the nearest culinary school or at a near community college to get your basic college core classes done.
You just need to do more searching than others. If culinary school turns out to be a flop, then think about something else. Don’t let yourself stand in one place wasting time, just because you’re hesitant/ unsure.

What laptop is best for interior design ?
Starting school in a month and I want to know what lap top is best , btw im not planning on spending an arm and a leg … I have a budget but it would be nice to know what laptops are cheap and good to use for design …
Given your "secret" budget, locate an HP, Sony, IBM or Mac which matches that. Then add the link details to your question. It will then be easier for us to help you decide which one is best.
Which universities have the best design and Business programs?
My cousin will graduate from high school this following year and wants to find a school with both fashion/interior design and business programs…. She has a gpa of 3.7 and is the top 40 of her class (I would say she is average) any suggestions…
Any school that has the AACSB certification is a good school for business
What are the top design schools in the south?
I plan on making a career in Interior Design, and I was planning to attend SCAD. Does anyone have any opinions? I just want to make the right choice, thanks!
I like SCAD. Nice campus environment, funky buildings. Lots to like there.
The best art schools, in general, in the south are at Virginia Commonwealth, U Georgia, U Florida, UNC Chapel Hill, Florida State, U South Florida, Clemson, George Mason, West Virginia U, Georgia State, U Miami, UNC Greensboro, East Carolina U… and then, after them in the rankings, is SCAD. But I do like SCAD. They do not suck.
I don’t know which of those schools offer interior design as a major, specifically. And it’s important that your ID major be accredited by CIDA, the Council for Interior Design Accreditation – and SCAD’s program is. You can use this list to see all the accredited programs in your area:

I can’t decide…please help!?
At the end of August I enter my final year of high school. Last week I received my schedule for the following year, but the either period class was one that I had already taken and passed (with flying colors, I might add(clothing & interior design)). Beside the point, I’m already planning to take two classes (leadership & nutrition courses(i’m planning on being a completer)) related to the one I passed last year. I don’t feel like retaking Clothing class because I passed it at the top of my class last year, but my school set the schedule up so that I would would either have to take that class, a life skills class with a teacher I particularly dislike, join a sports team(I prefer being in the band), or being an office or teacher’s aid. Or get a job(which I can’t, as I don’t have a car).
You can see my dilemma. What do you think I should do, answerers? Should I retake a class I’ve passed with flying colors already? Should I take life skills class? What is life skills class, anyway? Should I join the sports team even though I already devote a large portion of my time to band? Should I become an aid? My only real problem with that is that I’ve never actually learned how to work my school’s copy machine and I never took the time to learn the names of the women who work in the office. Should I poke my parents into getting me a car like they promised me a year ago so I can take JAG class and get a job?
Please give me your honest and well thought out opinions. The most thought out will receive the best answer position. ![]()
*the 8th period
Take the teacher’s aid. It will give you some experience and look good on a resume. You will learn the copy machine and everyone’s names before long.
What is the best college I can get into?
I’m only sixteen, but I plan to pursue a career in arts, anything from interior design to fine art, I’m really not sure. Currently, I have a 3.8 grade point average. By the end of my high school career, I will have taken three AP courses and the following art classes: ceramics 1, basic drawing, studio art, digital imaging 1 & 2, painting 1 & 2 and art portfolio. I will have had three years of spanish in high school. I will have received two Rhode Island School of Design certificates (ten courses). I will have three years of track, three years of cross country, and at least 200 hours of community service. I work for a local photographer. Also, my high school is one of the top ten best public schools in the country. I just want to have a realistic idea of my options in the future.
Which art schools could I get into, and which other schools? Thankyou!
I think you would love a great Art school in New York City or perhaps California
look into the Fashion Institute of Technology in Manhattan and Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in Los Angeles
good luck
University of Cincinnati or University of Wisconsin-Madison?
Hi, So I’m going to start my junior year of high school soon, & ive been thinking about college a lot lately:
I want to become an Interior Designer; Designing has been my dream. However, my dad doesn’t want me to go to an Art school, just "incase I change my mind".
I live in California, which (unfortunately) has less design programs in schools. I am currently improving my SAT (so estimate result would be around 1800-1900), & I got a 3.8GPA in freshmen, a 3.6GPA sophomore year, which isn’t bad, but it can not get me into UC Berk/LA (the only UCs that have what I want).
So Out-of-State is a big possibility for me, but I don’t know which to go. I want to keep my university in the ranking of top 100 in the nation, for "better-known-better-chance-at-job" reasoning & i don’t want to go to a medicore school with kids who barely tried in high school /:
Cincinnati has "nation’s #1 interior design program", but it’s a TIER 3 school… I can get into Wisconsin-Madison which has a 39th ranking in the nation and an interior design program, but I don’t know what would be better for my future.
What do you think? Personal stories? Anyone who took interior design?
Thank you, in advance!
& to give you a guess, I MIGHT want to come back to California, so I don’t know if the whole "Cincinnati’s co-op" thing would hurt that…
Plus, for my graduate’s school, I want to attend Pratt Institute, but I heard it’s REALLY hard to get in… Would Cincinnati give me a better chance to get in to Pratt, or will Wisconsin?
Neither – for a Bachelors, it is a foolish waste of money with absolutely no extra benefit to look at either of those schools.
In your case, SDSU and CSU-Long Beach are excellent schools to qualify you for grad work. Get fantastic grades at one of them and you will be much more likely to get into a top grad program. Pratt is of course superb.
And let go of the misconception about top 100 – I went to a low ranked state school and got into a top 10 law school. The member of this Group who writes as Ownpool went to a CSU and then to an even higher ranked law school.

I loved Everything! The course was terrific! She kept me interested, involved, and entertained! QC Design School Call for workshop details 1-800-267-1829 It’s all there, it’s easy, it’s laid out, and there is nothing complicated about it. The exercises are a lot more hands on, and your really get a grasp of what it means to be a colour consultant. Very Helpful -Dominique Raymond It’s a different feeling from other schools, more interactive, more open. At first I was a bit hesitant because I was saying, ok, it’s a workshop only from 9-5, I don’t really know if it’s going to be worth the money, and seriously from the first hour that I was in, I said, my money is worth it. A great forum for learning new ideas! They were just wonderful, the best absolute best conferences I’ve ever ever been to. Thank you for the awesome weekend. Pick a number off the menu, this is just brilliant because when you have someone behind, speaking with you of following up with you, you know you’ve got this work that you need, and just starting with that is A one. Thank you! She was always responsive and took always the time to answer me and was very smiley and happy. It’s a great school, for just my one seminar, I think that people are great, their very friendly, very supportive. I learned so much! They have the passion, its just I can’t help myself, it’s something that excites me. It’s very good knowledge for everybody to just have a background of. I’ve had friends in fact who have asked me, and I’ve recommended them, and they are students. Fabulous, I love it!
